I made it 30% of the way into this book before I decided enough was enough and this is where I part ways with this series。 This is the book where things we have been waiting for finally happen， and as they played out， I realised that this series has shown signs of being doomed for a long time。 The key word here is formulaic。 It doesn’t matter what new situation Cole is put into it always plays out exactly the same way。 If it’s an adventure he needs to go on， then we get described an impossible t I made it 30% of the way into this book before I decided enough was enough and this is where I part ways with this series。 This is the book where things we have been waiting for finally happen， and as they played out， I realised that this series has shown signs of being doomed for a long time。 The key word here is formulaic。 It doesn’t matter what new situation Cole is put into it always plays out exactly the same way。 If it’s an adventure he needs to go on， then we get described an impossible task which he will attack like a bull in a china shop and come close to losing before suddenly realising he is strong enough to deal with this all along and suddenly just win by being that awesome。 It makes the adventures mean less than nothing because they are always going to end the same way。 The bigger crime however is how the characters are treated。 90% of the cast of this series is women。。。 if not more actually。 At first this wasn’t an issue because they were all individual characters with their own emotions and personalities。 But now that Cole is laying claim to them， he is slowly merging them all into the same bland， featureless character who all act in the same way， speak using the same words， and basically show no individuality at all。 As Cole claims what feels like the only two hold outs in this entire series， all life fled from this series in an instant without any hope of getting it back。 It’s now clear that the only characters that are safe from this effect would be male characters， but we all know they would never be prominent in this series， so the only unique character going forward will be Cole。I started reading the next adventure and then realised that this is now a book about a guy going up against faceless enemies with walking talking sex dolls to back him up， and realised this series was over for me。 That is such a shame because while I have had issues with this series from day one， the story we were promised seemed like it had so much potential to be a different story than any I have read before and I was looking forward to that。Overall I finish this series vastly disappointed and a little amazed at how strong that original premise was that it kept me reading this far。 It turns out I was just hanging on to a little bit of hope that the story might find it’s feet when we started really getting into the meat of the overarching story， but now that its here I realised I was just kidding myself。 。。。more

Hope there is moreI know with Amazon screwing with this series， there was talk this was the last book。 Based on the ending I would assume there is more but it would be an OK ending。 As I have said for each book so far if you like magical schools but wish there was more than snot nosed teens this series is for you。
